All the componments of digital HID ballast

All the componments of digital HID ballast

Skeenway supplies a high tenological digital HID ballast, all the componments of HID ballast is as follows :

HID color temperature

HID color temperature

Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people believe the misconception that colour temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or HID kit. This belief is completely false. The reality of the matter is that the higher the colour temperature, the less use able light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a colour temperature of approx 12,000k and has almost no useable light or lumens output. Our Xtreme Xenon HID Conversion kits are available in a wide range of colour temperatures to suit each individual application. Our Xenon HID Conversion kits are available in 4300K HID, 6000K HID, 8000K HID, 10000K,12000K,3000K Yellow HID and other special color HID.

What is the Outstanding Features of HID

What is the Outstanding Features of HID

1. Super Brightness:
The brightness and its luminous flux are increased by 300% as that of the halogen tungsten lamp, so that the lamp can radiate to higher, wider and farther place.
2. Good color temperature:
The color temperature is approximately 4300 K –10000k compared to 3000 K for halogen lamp. The common choose is 5500k,which is close to the sunlight and comfortable to our eyes, also benefit for the safe driving indirectly.
3. Low power consumption and high efficiency:
The power of Xenon metal halide lamp(35Watt,) for vehicle is only around half of tungsten halogen lamp but emitting 3 times of light.
Quick start up: From starting up to reach full light, halogen lamp takes about 15 minutes, while HID lamp takes less than 0.001 second to start up and it can reach 85% of its full light in 1 second. For hot-re-strike, it takes several seconds to stabilization; for pulse-start ,it takes 10-20 seconds.
4. Extremely long life:
In practical terms, the life span of the bulb is equal to that of the car. Service life is at least 3000 hours, greatly above total hours of an automobile during normal night, which means that the bulb need only be replaced in exceptional cases.

What is HID Xenon?

What is HID Xenon?

HID lamp (High-Intensity-Discharge) is the top product of the Metal halide lamp. Unlike Halogen lamps, HID lamps don’t have a filament but create light by the arc between two electrodes. There are distinctive metals contained in the arc tube: high-pressure Xenon (99.99%), mercur and metal halide. When starting voltage is applied to the electrodes from the ballast or igniter, an arc is formed between them. The arc activates the Xenon, which in turn ignites the metal halide. The result of this action is the emission of light energy. Due to the high pressures of HID lamp operation, these wavelengths are concentrated in the visible light spectrum. We can get the desired color temperature through changing the pressure of HID lamp or the proportion of the metal halide.

How to Test an HID Ballast

High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights are a popular choice for car headlights. These bulbs produce a bright light that is perfect for nighttime vision. HID bulbs are connected to ballasts that control the voltage and current frequency to ensure that the bulb gets the right amount power. If you are installing an HID ballast and bulb to your car, test the units first to make sure there are no problems.

Instructions

o    1.Open the hood of your car.
o    2.Put on latex gloves. Oil from your fingers can damage the HID bulb and reduce its lifespan.
o    3.Connect the HID bulb to the ballast by plugging the ballast plug into the bulb socket.
o    4.Use two wires to connect the ballast to the car battery. Ballasts made for cars usually come with a plug that encloses the positive and negative wires together. Attach one end of the first wire to the positive terminal on the battery and connect the other end to the positive terminal inside the ballast plug.
o    5.Attach the second wire from the negative terminal on your car battery to the negative terminal inside the ballast plug. If the bulb and ballast are working correctly, the bulb will light up.

HID Headlights HID Head lights

HID Headlights

Headlights are an essential part of every automobile moving on the road. You can't drive a car without all of your lights working perfectly well - not only in the dark and when turning, but also in certain weather conditions such as fog and other situations as well. Therefore keeping headlights in order is every driver's responsibility, and they must always remember about it.

A headlight is a lamp (usually a pair) with a bright light set to a vehicle from the front with a purpose of lighting the road. With time its performance has significantly improved due to the tangible difference between the mortality rate on the roads in daylight and nightlight. According to Wikipedia, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration claims that around 50% of all the deaths caused by the road accidents take place at night, although only 25% of all the drivers travel when it's dark.

A xenon headlight is actually an automotive HID (high-intensity discharge) lamp which is, in fact a metal-halide lamp containing xenon gas. This type of gas lets the lamp produce very little of sufficient light once the car starts, and decreases the run-up time. HID lamps are often called gas-discharge burners and their performance is higher than the one of tungsten lamps. Moreover, HID headlights can be produced in a smaller size than halogen headlights due to the extended amounts of light that HID headlights can provide in relation to halogen lamps. So, in case the xenon headlight is made in a bigger size, it produces a more powerful beam of light.

In comparison with other headlights, HID headlamps are very bright -they are 3-5 times brighter than halogen headlights. HID lights are also much more powerful - 35W against 55W coming from halogen lights. They endure a more extended period of time (normally around two thousand hours which is 2 to 4 times of a halogen light's 'lifetime'). In addition, the light produced by HID headlights is very close to natural day light. The color temperature of HID lights is 4200K whereas sunlight is 5800K, and halogen - only 3300K.

Technology has made a huge leap ahead at the end of the last century and already in the 1990s HID lights became more popular thanks to their availability both in price and on the market. The demand has been constantly growing, the quality - improving, and the design is getting better every year.

Automotive Headlamps: Halogen headlights vs. Xenon headlights vs. LED headlights

Automotive Headlamps: Halogen headlights vs. Xenon headlights vs. LED headlights

A headlight, also known as a headlamp, is a light that is mounted in the front part of a vehicle, such as a car, van, or truck. It has a reflector and a special lens. Its purpose is to light up the road ahead so that the driver can see it even under dark conditions.A headlight must be able to properly illuminate the highway in front of the vehicle even during nighttime, overcast weather, and other situations where visibility is low. It should not cause a strong glare or temporary blindness to drivers of vehicles that are approaching from the opposite side of the road.

At now, there are there type of Headlights, Halogen headlights vs. Xenon headlights vs. LED headlights.

Halogen headlights

Halogen refers to a member of a certain group of five chemicals that are very reactive and poisonous. These chemicals are classified as non-metals. Halogen bulbs are popularly used in headlights. Each bulb has a thin tungsten filament and a glass filament capsule filled with halogen gas. The gas routes back the tungsten to the filament so it regenerates the filament each time the headlight is turned on and used. A halogen bulb produces a bright, white light.
ADVANTAGES:
longer life
different dimensions
very efficient
bright illumination

DISADVANTAGES:
energy wasting
extra care required

Xenon Headlight

Xenon is a highly unreactive gas that is colorless and odorless. It may be found in small quantities in the atmosphere. It may be extracted from liquefied air to be used for commercial purposes. Xenon is commonly used in headlights. It is utilized in some filament-based automotive lighting technologies. A xenon bulb emits a clean and white light and may also be used in HID (high-intensity discharge) lighting. An HID bulb does not have a filament; instead, it uses a xenon gas-charged, sealed system that generates light through an electrical charge that starts an arc between two electrodes.
ADVANTAGES:
longer lifetime than halogen lights
more efficient than halogen as they use less power
better visibility for the driver

DISADVANTAGES:
too much glare and thus, potential problems for the incoming traffic
very high costs
possible harmful materials could be used

LED Headlight

The acronym "LED" stands for "Light Emitting Diode." It is a semiconductor diode that gives off light when voltage is applied to it. LED is a popular display and lighting technology that is used in various kinds of electrical and electronic products. LED produces light in less than a hemisphere. This means that it needs to be cooled from the back. As a result, an LED headlightmay require a different design from halogen and xenon headlights. An LED headlight may potentially come in different designs because its small size makes it versatile.

ADVANTAGES:

small size, allow great manipulation for various shapes
very low energy consumption

DISADVANTAGES:

high production costs
low amount of generated power
high temperature created around adjacent assemblies

Which is Best: Halogen, Xenon, or LED Headlights

Each type of headlight has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. That is the reason why one cannot pick out a definitive winner among the three types. That’s why the headlights that may be best for some drivers may not necessarily be the best for others. It depends on the particular priorities and needs of the buyer.
